BRANDENBURG - Thirty thousand euros in prize money is waiting for the winners of the three-cushion, 400.000 is the total prize money. Five hundred players are coming to the start of all member countries of CEB, they can win titles and medals in all disciplines of carom: match table, small table, men, women and youth.
The European championships, which will be launched on 12 April by Dr. Dietlind Tiemann, mayor of the city of Brandenburg an der Havel, is a mega-event, a tournament that never was seen in billiard, the biggest in history.
The Stahlpalast in Brandenburg will host the championships from 12 to 21 April and will be the center where all well known European billiard players will meet and will be crowned.
With this consolidation the CEB will enter a new era. To date the European championships were held in different cities on different dates, from now they will be organized together under one roof.
To represent the sport of contemporary, no expense is spared. Besides the attractive prize money, five starting positions remain to be recovered for the prestigious World Games, which will be played similarly to the Olympic Games under the patronage of the IOC in a 4-year cycle. The Games will take place in Colombia.
CEB President Wolfgang Rittmann promises ten tournament days with many great sporting achievements. The president: ,,With the new project, we are raising our championships to a whole new level. We will show that carom billiards is still a very lively sport.''
