PELOPONNESE - Two Koreans and two South Americans will play the semifinals of the Junior World championships in Peloponnese. The four Europeans, who were still in the race for the title, are out of the game. The most surprising was the victory of Pan-American champion Jose Garcia against European champion Omer Karakurt.

The two major contenders for the title were side by side until 20-20 and 29-29, then, in the decisive part of the match, the Turk lost his rhythm and the Colombian finished with six (35-29). Karakurt missed the equalizer.

The Spaniard Sergio Aparicio, Portuguese Joao Ferreira and Frenchman Adrien Tachoire also were outplayed by players from the other continents. The development is surprising: the Europeans were for years the only competitors for the four-time world champion Haeng Jik Kim.

Hae Jung Chang, who defeated Sergio Aparicio in the quarterfinals 35-16 in 27, meets in the semifinals Pedro Reyes. The Ecuadorian had a slightly better end rush than Joao Ferreira, who missed his last carom.

Myung Woo Cho had a strong showing after an early attack against Frenchman Tachoire, whom he beat 35-21 in 32 innings.

The semi-finals:
Jung-Reyes
Cho-Garcia.
