Allan Schroeder defeated Tonny Carlsen and took the gold medal

VELJE - The 49-year-old Allan Schroeder from Varde BK is the surprising new Danish champion in three cushion. He took the title for the first time in his career. In the final match, Allan Schroeder bested the former, seven-time Danish champion Tonny Carlsen from BK Grøndal 50-40.

,,I have won the Danish team title five times, but never the individual title. And I'm frankly damn proud to have won this gold medal'', Allan Schroeder reacted after the victory at the championship that was played in Vejle.

In the decisive match, both players initially didn't succeed in scoring many points. Allan Schroeder broke free and led 25-19 at the break. He even increased the lead to 46-28, before Tonny Carlsen showed some of the high class which reminded of the years he won silver medals at both the European and World championships.

The outcome was a big surprise. Allan Schrøder won the defensive and not too classy final. In the championship arena with lots of spectators, Schroeder took victory. For the first time in many years, the winner finished just over 1.000 average.
