BOCHUM - The European championship free game for players under 17, played in Bochum, ended in a victory for the Dane Anders Henriksen. The new champion defeated in the final home player and only fifteen year old German Simon Blondeel in a great match: 200-109 in two innings with a highest run of 174.

With only one lost match in the preliminaries against Hans Snellen and six wins, Henriksen proved to be the best. The Dane came into the tournament with an average of 56.00 and finished it off in the Europeans with 47.00.

The championship was played in two groups of five, of whom the first four players qualified for the knockout stages. The Danish winner started with wins over Pierre Martory and Stef van Hees, then lost his only match against Dutchman Hans Snellen in one inning. In the quarter finals, Henriksen defeated Michael Ramge in five innings and in the semifinals Hans Snellen 200-6 in two innings.

Simon Blondeel came into the final by winning the quarterfinal against his brother Luke Blondeel and the semi-final against Pierre Martory.

Anders Henriksen dominated the final against his German opponent and finished the championship with an excellent run. Simon Blondeel took the silver medal with 43.16 average.

Hans Snellen and Pierre Martory completed the podium. The Frenchman ended with an average of 37.85, the Dutchman with 17.67.

The tournament had a flawless course, all the players had a lot of praise for the organization.
