Antonio Ortiz, the new elected president in Spain

MADRID - The 67-year-old Antonio Ortiz Martínez is the new president of the Spanish billiards federation. He was elected at a meeting in Madrid with 32 votes against 12 votes for Javier Muñoz, the president of the Valencia federation, who was presented as a candidate during the elections.

After the death of José María Morales, an election period was opened, which ended this week. Antonio Ortiz has held various positions in Spanish billiards. He was and still is responsible sporting and administrative leader at Club Billar Paiporta, one of the most known clubs in Spain. Ortiz was president of the Valencian federation for almost three decades and was vice-chairman of the RFEB with Fernando Requena as president.

In the last term, Ortiz again stepped in as vice-president under the chairmanship of José María Morales. After the death of Morales, Ortiz was the acting president.
