BRUSSELS/ANTWERP - The Belgian team league three cushion will be launched in three weeks (August 26, 2019). There is still uncertainty about the calendar for the new season. The teams and the competitions have been announced: 12 teams for a competition that ends on 28 April. Mr 100 Lier 2, Masters from Turnhout and Koninklijke Brugse from Bruges are the three new teams in the highest class. BC De Goeie Queue has been abandoned, Frédéric Caudron is the new leader in BC Deurne's team.

The World Cup in Blankenberge, the third in the series of Belgian top events, will be played from the 15th to 21st of June 2020. The Belgian championship, the Multi's, is traditionally in January (5 to 12) in Blankenberge. There are no further tournaments on the calendar yet. The two Belgian PBA players, Caudron and Leppens, may participate at the Belgian Multi's in all disciplines, except three cushion.

The Belgian billiard federation (led by Bennie van Goethem) and the BTS (Kurt Ceulemans), organizer of Grand Prix tournaments and the Superprestige are caught up in a struggle this year, among others because of the billiard cloths in the Mister 100. That eventually led to a lawsuit in which Mister 100 was upheld. Both parties are still in a fight, as it seems at the start of the season. The result is that the BTS organization has not planned any tournaments for the coming season and the Superprestige in Lommel has been cancelled.

Marco Janssen cannot reveal anything on behalf of the BTS.  "We will come with an official communication from the BTS in the coming days, until then, I cannot say anything."  Robert Monnissen (Belgian federation), I don't know if the Superprestige is cancelled."

The team competition has the same structure as other years: when team players are involved in international tournaments, team leaders can agree to move the matches. The official match days are on Monday and Tuesday. The early start of the competition, on August 26th, has led to several reactions, because many players have not yet returned from holidays.

Just like the KNBB in the Netherlands, the Belgian federation has officially allowed and supported participation of the PBA suspended players in the team competition.

The most important changes in the teams include:
Frédéric Caudron from De Goeie Queue to BC Deurne
Jef Philipoom from BC Deurne to De Ploeg
Peter De Backer from BC Quality to Op de Meir
Jerry Hermans from De Goeie Queue to BC Deurne.
