Frédéric Caudron and Eddy Merckx, two of the main contenders in the Superprestige

LOMMEL – Will Roland Forthomme be able to hit up the sky again, as he did earlier in the 2005, 2010 and 2011 Superprestige and this year in the Belgian championship? Will it turn out again into another thrilling classic between Eddy Merckx and Frédéric Caudron, or is Eddy Leppens, the tournament organizer along with Caudron and a whole family of volunteers, be capable to win the 2013 Superpestige?

That could be the outcome, for sure, but actually the tournament can’t be forecasted in advance, because the best country in the world in three cushion has so many star players and candidate winners. Sixteen of them are at the start of the Cuvino Superprestige, they are the sixteen best over the season, with Eddy Merckx, last year's winner, on pole position.

Eddy Leppens, Frédéric Caudron and the whole staff team are in the final stage of preparing the arena in the auditorium of De Adelberg in Lommel to offer players, sponsors, guests of honor and audience the best of the best. The Superprestige has built up a reputation, especially thanks to the new approach. Topbilliards in according to the modern standards combined with VIP boxes, a snack and a drink, background music and entertainment.

The start of the season, before the Belgian star players start their trip around the world (World Cups of Korea, Pelopennesos, World championships in Antwerp and the foreign leagues), is a confrontation of big favorites with dark horses as Peter Ceulemans, Jef Philipoom and Peter De Backer .

Davy van Havere, Thomas Broux and Steven van Acker can confirm that they have another step on their way to the difficult road to the top. Martin Spoormans still has his traditional outliers, as he showed in the Belgian championship this year and in the Dutch league against Frédéric Caudron.
Kurt Ceulemans, Francis Forton and Ronnie Daniels can be considered as feared seasoned players.

The Belgian number two in the world, Frédéric Caudron, won the Verhoeven Open in New York prior to the Superprestige, in a final against Eddy Merckx. The two Belgian protagonists were at the tabel in last year's final in the Superprestige and are the main contenders for this year.

The tournament starts on Sunday, August 25th with two groups of four. Roland Forthomme plays with Peter De Backer, Ronnie Daniels and Pascal Claus for two spots in the quarterfinals. Frédéric Caudron faces Davy van Havere, Steven van Acker and Frank de Groof.
