BK Borgen wins 30th title in Sweden

HELSINGBORG - The team of BK Borgen from Helsingborg has conquered his 30th team title in Sweden. The players quartet with David Pennör, Nalle Olsson, Bjorn Lohmander and Peter Lohmander defeated BS Stockholm in the finals. Michael Nilsson took the only two matchpoints for Stockholm by beating David Pennör 40-32 in 36 innings.

Seven teams started in the preliminary rounds of the championship. They were divided into two groups the best were seeded for the semifinals.

BK Borgen finished the preliminaries in a group with three teams with the maximal score of four matchpoints before BK Paradis. Stockholm BS won the other group before Malmo CC. Michael Nilsson played the best match of the preliminaries in the match against against Tay Quoc Co, which he won 40-13 (3.636 average) in eleven innings.

BK Borgen defeated CC Malmö in the semis 6-2. Peter Lohmander shone with a 1.429 average match. Stockholm won with the same score against BK Paradis. Michael Nilsson beat Mats Noren 40-25 in 37 innings.

In the final, BK Borgen dominated at three tables. Only Michael Nilsson won his match against David Pennör. Nalle Olsson defeated Henry Kalita 40-35, Bjorn Lohmander won 40-21 in 28 innings against Patrik Mathies and Peter Lohmander took the important points in his match against Hans Nielsen (40-31 in 48).

Michael Nilsson said: ,,I am very happy for my new team, Stockholm BS, that we came to the finals. We are allowed to play for the European Cup now. But more importantly is that for the first time after ten years there is a team from the capital in the championship. Before that time only teams from the south of Sweden were playing for the title. This is very hopeful for Swedish billiard.''
