The Danish champion with Lars Dunch, Michael Lohse, Tonny Carlsen and Dion Nelin

GRÖNDAL - The Danish championship for teams in three cushion was played in Gröndal. The home team, BK Gröndal, secured victory after a battle with four in the final rounds. The four teams qualified were BK Gröndal, hosting the final games, BK Bristol Odense, Vejle BK and Fredericia BC. BK Gröndal was the best in the final match with BK Bristol.

In the first semifinal, BK Gröndal took a huge 8-0 victory against Fredericia in a match that offered a "neo-classic" in Denmark: Dion Nelin against Brian Knudsen. However, Brian is not quite on his form of 6-7 years ago, and neither he nor the rest of the Fredericia team could make their effort count.

The second semifinal was a more even encounter between Bristol and Vejle. In the end, the match was a 4-4 draw, with neither of the teams reaching their usual high standard, symbolized in a rather unspectacular game between the two aces, Michael Nilsson and Thomas Andersen - a game that Michael ended up winning, averaging rather disappointing 0.909.

In the end, Bristol took the deciding step into the final match, having scored 15 points more than the opponents.

The cracker between Gröndal and Bristol will always be a top game in Denmark, this time it was too. The 'clash of the titans', Michael Nilsson-Dion Nelin, was a beautiful game, with Michael scoring consistently, making the encounter look almost easy, and Dion throughout the game one step behind, but still almost within reach.

In the end, Michael Nilsson secured a clear 50-30 victory in 21 innings, and with two games won for the day, he had surely done his duty.
Unfortunately for Michael, the rest of his team could not keep up with the force of Gröndal, and as the result sheet shows, the 6-2 victory for BK Gröndal was never in any real danger.

Tonny Carlsen, Michael Lohse, and Lars Dunch showed - as they have done through the entire season - great skills and confidence, and so BK Gröndal could, well deserved, take home the seventh Danish championship in the last ten years.
