MALMÖ - The Swedish title is regained by Torbjörn Blomdahl, who bested Michael Nilsson, the titleholder, in the final. As Dick Jaspers did it in the Netherlands with a final against titleholder Jean Paul de Bruijn, the new Swedish champion captured the gold medal in an unbeaten performance.

The Swedish championship was played in Malmo with twelve players in a round robin. Three players, Torbjörn Blomdahl, Michael Nilsson and Nalle Ollson very soon showed up as candidates for the podium.

The first one who stumbled was Nalle Ollson in his matches against Blomdahl and Nilsson. Björn Lohmander was just behind the top three players, David Penörn, another contender, lost his chances in the early phase by two losses. He couldn't show up on the last day, because he suffered from flu.

The final between Blomdahl and Nilsson was decisive for the title. The reigning champion Nilsson was under pressure from the start and was perished 40-25 in 21 innings.

The champion commented: ,,It was nice to play many matches and of course some of them were kind of easy. I also think I played a little better then the average tells. The final was good and I managed to put away the balls sometimes to make it hard for Nilsson.''

Blomdahl played his best games against Anders Kall (14 innings), Torsten Svendsen (15) and Björn Lohmander (16). His top runs were 14, 13 and 12. The winner recorded an overall average of 1.780, Michael Nilsson finished 1.320.

It was Blomdahls 24th Swedish title after his first in 1982. Then he won from 1983 to 1986 every year, from 1988 to 1992, from 1997 to 2004, in 2007, 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2014.
