MADRID - The president of the UMB, mister Jean Claude Dupont from Belgium, is strongly convinced that time has come to think and discuss the future of carom billiard and the possible development in and out of this sport. The world federation invites all people interested in billiard, the Confederations, the Federations, clubs, sportive companies etc for the Congress in Madrid on 28th and 29th of October. The president says: ,,Subjects as carom and youth, players training systems and financing of different projects and organizations are main subjects to be discussed.''
The Royal Spanish Billiard Federation and her President Mr. Fernando Requena will host under the auspices of the Spanish Olympic Committe the congress 'Horizons of Billiard"'. Mr. Dupont: ,,This congress can only be succesfull if we can trust on a large support from many interested persons. I am very hopeful that this initiative will contribute to the best of our sport and the broadest development of it.''
The Spanish organization and Mr. Fernando Requena welcome the congress. ,,It is an important appointment in the international calender of this year'', they say. ,,We try with this initiative to put in debate matters different that we considered fundamental to consolidate the future of our sport.''
,,As players, officials, those persons who are participating in the industry, judges etc, we are responsable for the future of our sport'', mr. Requena says. ,,I propose to you that we unite our forces and we express our opinions, that we share the experiences and we are impelling billiards to the level higher than we are able.''
Mr. Jose Maria Quetglas, technical director of the Royal Spanish Billiard Federation and Marc Masse, national technical director in France, are discussing youth and development during the congress. Mr. Quetglas holds a presentation with the title 'The way towards the elite'. He hopes that this congress will be an opportunity to discover many points of view on the development of Base Sport and the Elite Sport.
Marc Massé will direct the communication that will be debate in the congress on the way to present billiard to the new generation.
,,Billiard needs a new impulse to integrate itself in the sport activites of nowadays'', Massé says. The development of the practice, the sport of high level and the mediatizacion of the discipline must be the center of the preoccupations of all the actors of billiards, players, leaders, clubs and rooms of billiards.''
,,Therefor'', he says, ,,it is necessary to celebrate the initiative of the World Union of Billiards that proposes on international debate about these crucial questions.''
Mr. Farouk Barki, sportsdirector of the UMB, will outline the future of billiards with a power point demonstration.
