Can Capak with run of 20 in final rounds

ANTALYA - The first Grand Prix in Turkey is nearing its climax this morning, Tuesday, at 11.00 and 13.30 Turkish time: four players meet each other in the semi-finals. The final match is later this afternoon. The four remaining players from a field of 800 starters(!!) in the Majesty Mirage Hotel in Antalya are Can Capak, Tolgahan Kiraz, Cenet and Hakan Incekara.

The two highest ranked players Tayfun Tasdemir and Adnan Yüksel, who play at the World championship for nation teams in Viersen next week, were eliminated in the previous rounds. Tasdemir lost in the quarters against Can Capak, who sparkled with a run of twenty in that match (40-29 in 19). Yüksel lost in the first knockout round against F. Senel 40-29 in 34.

The tournament in Antalya started with a record of players for the Turkish Grand Prix circuit, which is decisive for the Turkish three-cushion championship. Almost 800 players had registered for the first 2015 tournament. Semih Sayginer was among the 32 players for the main tournament.

The star player started with a brilliant match against C. Inceis: the best of the sixteen matches in the first round, 40-13 in 16 innings (2.500). In the next round Sayginer was eliminated by Gökhan Salman 40-27 in 24 innings.

Can Capak is one of the best players so far with victories over Cimentepe (40-19 in 25), Celik (40-34 in 27) and Tasdemir (40-29 in 19). Cenet reached the final round by wins against Isli (40-30 in 35), Güler (40-24 in 24) and Murat Naci Coklu (40-31 in 24).

Tolgahan Kiraz defeated Coskun in the first round 40-33 in 33, beat Yasmin in the eighth finals 40-33 in 19 and Gökhan Salman in the quarters 40-34 in 27. Hakan Incekara reached the last four by victories against Erciyas (40-37 in 31), Birol Uymaz (40-34 in 26) and Senel (40-31 in 25).
