Frédéric Caudron, great match in the week before World Cup in Hurghada

LA BAULE/ST QUENTIN - In the week before the World Cup in Hurghada, Frédéric Caudron was the most impressive player in the French team competition. On the second day of play in the A flight, the Belgian leader of the titleholder La Baule was a way too strong for Martin Horn, whom he defeated 40-8 in nine innings. The match La Baule-Laxou ended in a draw (4-4). In the other match of this group, St. Quentin was the better of Albert, 7-1.

Caudron powered to victory with a run of 13 in his match against Horn. The scores of the Belgian: 6-1-0-3-5-7-13-0-5. The win of the key player led the team to a draw, because Jef Philipoom took a win for Laxou against Jérémy Bury and Pierre Soumagne bested Jean Paul de Bruijn. Philipoom played an excellent match against Bury (40-25 in 20), in which he needed 11 innings for his last 6 points. Soumagne won a tough fight with De Bruijn 40-36 in 35. On the fourth table, Devogelaere was important for La Baule with a win over Six: 40-17 in 32.

The average for La Baule was 1.469, for Laxou 1.094.

In Saint Quentin, the home team made a big move in the match with Albert (7-1). Only Gwendal Maréchal lost one point against Cédric Melnytschenko (40-40 in 31). The other three matches were won by David Martinez, Juan David Zapata and Kévin Perrotin. The two Spaniards outshone Peter Ceulemans and Glenn Hofman. Martinez recorded solid win against Ceulemans 40-32 in 33, Zapata dominated against Hofman 40-30 in 21. Kévin Perrotin had a comfortable lead over Xavier Le Roy: 40-15 in 25.

St. Quentin had a match average of 1.472, Albert 1.063.

La Baule is the leader after two rounds with 3 points and 1.487, Laxou has 3 points and 1.183. St. Quentin follows with two points, Albert is the number last with no points.
