HAARLO - Two victories of Jean Paul de Bruijn in the clash between Etikon and A1 Biljarts/De Veemarkt in the double meeting for the top competition were not enough for the champion to win the top match. A1 Biljarts is the new leader in the competition, ahead of the multiple champion. Frédéric Caudron and Raymund Swertz made the difference in the game in which the top ranking in the competition was at stake. The balk-line players beat their opponents in both matches.

Frédéric Caudron bested his compatriot Patrick Niessen in 71/2 in two and three innings with 150-36 and 150-99. Raymund Swertz was boss over his big rival Henri Tilleman in 47/2: 200-59 and 200-13 in 2 and in 1 inning.
Caudron and Swertz thus laid the foundation for the

A1 Biljarts leads after twelve meetings with 21 points, ahead of Etikon with 18, Biljartkeu.nl/sbc Vink 17, Dibo the City 15 and Biljartcentrum Arnhem 12 points .

The title race is far from decided, because Etikon gets another chance in the return, later in this competition. The audience couldn't witness the bump between two world class players in one cushion, Frédéric Caudron and Jean Paul de Bruijn. Caudron played, more or less unexpected, in the 71/2 , where he met another expert, Patrick Niessen. That match was a foretaste of the Belgian championship, in which Caudron and Niessen will clash in two weeks in Blankenberge.

Jean Paul de Bruijn was in the one cushion match twice too strong for Michel van Silfhout, whom he defeated 100-38 (9) and 100-30 (5), with runs of 38 and 50. Raymund Swertz sparkled with two high runs in the 47/2: 200 and 148, leaving Henri Tilleman without a chance.
Caudron won his matches against Niessen with runs of 137 and 101.

Biljartkeu.nl/sbc Vink won the double encounter against De Graafschap both 4-2. Gert Jan Veldhuizen won the 71/2 once in one inning against Guido Kauffeld ( 150-1) and once in 7 innings. Demi Pattiruhu won the 47/2 in one inning against Wiel van Gemert.
Wellse Vaert won its first match against Bios Blitz 4-2 and tied in the other: 3-3. Dick Jaspers defeated Johan Claessen in one cushion 100-40 and 100-11, twice in five innings.
