Caudron-team jumps to nr. 2 position in Belgium

Jean Paul de Bruijn was the matchwinner for De Goeie Queue

MALLE - The Belgian team league has undergone some minor position moves in the subtop of the ranking this week. The team from De Goeie Queue jumped to second place after beating Biljart Express. The Caudron team won the match against the other top three team 6-2. Only Caudron lost his match against Frans van Kuyk 50-39 in 22 innings. BC Deurne remains the proud leader after a comfortable 8-0 victory in the away match against KBC Zanzibar. The best match of the twelfth match day came to the name of Martin Horn with 50 in 20 innings.

De Goeie Queue changed positions with Biljart Express in the mutual match. Jean Paul de Bruijn was the match winner for the team after the 3-1 lead at the break. De 'Zeeuw' played a strong match against Gerwin Valentijn, who was caught up after a mediocre start: 13-13 in 17, 20-17 in 22 for Valentijn, but in the final part, De Bruijn was excellent and won 50-27 in 33. Frans van Kuyk played the best match of the evening against Frédéric Caudron. The Dutchman was the better, 50-39 in 22 innings (2.272 against 1.772). The high runs were modest: 7 for Van Kuyk, 5 for Caudron.

Before the break Martin Spoormans and Wesley de Jaeger played a draw (40-40 in 39), after a strong start for Spoormans. The score of 13-13 in 13 turned into a lead by a run of 11, good for 38-23 in 30 innings. De Jaeger came back well and finished at 42-39 by a three in the equalizer. Guy van Litsenborg started with 10 against Jerry Hermans, was 16-4 on the lead, but then had a setback. Hermans won 42-39 in 33 innings.

BC Deurne was surprised by an unexpected walk-over against Zanzibar. ,,The score was not so logical, as the final score of 8-0 suggests'', said Glenn Hofman afterwards. ,,At the break, we were behind in all matches.''

Hofman nevertheless beat Roland Forthomme 50-44 in 37, Jef Philipoom won against Kenny Miatton 50-37 in 29, Jean van Erp against Andy de Bondt 42-34 in 26, Davy van Havere against Jimmy Mues 42-34 in 40. BC Deurne remains the leader with 22 points out of 12, Zanzibar drops to the last places with 7 points out of 12.

Mister 100 Lier lost a valuable point against the second team of the club. Peter and Kurt Ceulemans defeated Marco Janssen and Ad Koorevaar, Raymond and Bart lost to Rudy Persyn and Tom Persyn. The best match was played by Tom Persyn with 42 in 22 innings, averaging 1.909. Kurt Ceulemans played 1.851 average (run 12), Peter Ceulemans 1.428.

Eddy Merckx was the comfortable winner against Eddy Leppens in the match at Op de Meir with his team (Quality Zele). Merckx, the Belgian champion on Sunday, finished in 29 innings (1.724), Leppens seemed tired after a tough week q5 the Multi's with only 26 in 29 innings. Op de Meir won the match thanks to victories by Barry van Beers, Roland Uijtdewillegen and Ivan Stischinsky. Uijtdewillegen and Jeffrey Jorissen played a crucial match: Uijtdewillegen won 42-41 in 34 innings.

KBC Eeklose again achieved a match point by playing a draw in the home match against BC Herentals. Martin Horn and Christian Rudolph won for the visitors team. Horn played the best match of this round: 50-24 in 20 against Steven van Acker. KBC Kortrijk and De Witte Molen also shared the win. Dave Christiani was the man of the match with 50-29 in 26 against Dirk Weeremans. Martin Ravestyn defeated Pierre Soumagne 42-33 in 35.
