Frédéric Caudron survived a matchbal and defeated Choi.

TRABZON - Frédéric Caudron is the eighth and last player who reached the quarterfinals in Trabzon. The Belgian needed a tough struggle with the Korean Sung-Won Choi to grab the win (3-2), after he swept away a 2-0 disadvantage in sets. Caudron, usually one of the fastest players, finished his match with a run of five when all the other matches were decided for a long time.

Sung-Won Choi, who has shot up on the world rank like a comet, took the lead with sets of 15-6 (five innings) and 15.8 (7). Caudron equalized with 15-9 and 15-14 and was a little lucky that his opponent missed two matchballs.

The Belgian saved the furniture, like they say it so funny in his country, by taking the initiative right from the start. His final sprint was too powerful for the Korean. Both players finished with the same average: 1,594.

The matches of the evening at 19.00 (Paris time) are: Torbjörn Blomdahl-Lütfi Cenet, Murat Naci Coklu-Eddy Merckx, Kyung-Roul Kim-Daniel Sánchez, Filipos Kasidokostas-Frédéric Caudron.
