Peter Ceulemans was in a fabulous form against Eddy Merckx: a win in 20 innins.

MORANGIS - Two Belgian clashes in the French league gave the match between Morangis Cetsi and Albert an unexpected turn. The title candidate Morangis, a small city not so far from Paris, took a 4-0 lead before the break, but spoiled the maximum win in the second part. Peter Ceulemans and Kurt Ceulemans were responsible for the spectacular score in the match, played in Group A of the highest league, which was broadcast live on Kozoom.

Peter Ceulemans bested Eddy Merckx in a fabulous match 50-37 in 20 innings (2.500/1.850, runs 8 for Ceulemans, 12 for Merckx). Kurt Ceulemans outsprinted on the other table another Belgian star player, Eddy Leppens, 50-30 in 26.

Peter Ceulemans analyzed from the TGV on his way home the two matches after the break:

,,We were certainly not a favorite when we faced the 4-0 deficit at the break. I myself was in a lesser period after the semi-final in the Porto World Cup. It's not always easy to charge yourself for a match in the combination with work and family. But anyway, it's not too bad, the averages are somewhat lower, but my level is good.''

,,Eddy Merckx started with 9 against me and ran a 12 when I was 27-24 ahead. He was 34-27 on the lead, but I finished really strong, including a run of eight.''

,,Kurt played a great match against Eddy Leppens: he made 42 in 17, scored heavily and forced Eddy to give up. Kurt attacked strongly and played perfect defensive. We all know that, when he plays like this, Kurt can beat everyone.''

Before the break Jean Reverchon and Richard Bitalis took the points for Morangis against Kévin Perrotin and Cédric Melnytschenko. Only Melnytschenko could follow his opponent until the break. Then Bitalis finished on his routine: 50-36 in 37. Reverchon dominated the entire match against Kévin Pérotin and won 50-22 in 37.

In this group Andernos previously won 6-2 vs Colmar.
