Who is going to stop Peter Ceulemans on his way to his first major success in three-cushion during the Kersttoernooi in Zundertr? Would it be Roland Forthomme, his teammate in the team of Snellen Recycling, who finished so spectacular this evening in his match with Jean van Erp? And what will be the outcome in the other great collision tomorrow afternoon between Eddy Merckx and Frédéric Caudron, the big favorites to win the tournament? Two semi finals, two matches which are totally unpredictable.
The denouement of the traditional Kersttoernooi, registered by the cameras Kozoom, will be a full Belgian matter, because Jean van Erp dropped out of the tournament tonight as the last Dutchman and Semih Sayginer already was eliminated by Peter de Backer.
Frédéric Caudron has demonstrated that he is in top form. He defeated Jef Philipoom tonight with an average of 2,500. Peter Ceulemans, the revelation in the billiard room where he plays his home matches for Snellen Recycling, did even better. He was the underdog in his match with Eddy Leppens, but started so quick that he put his opponent on 32-12 behind in ten innings. And after that Ceulemans also finished excellent, with a winn of 50-29 in eighteen innings.
Eddy Merckx had to work a little harder to defeat Peter de Backer, but he kept his opponent on a comfortable distance at the finish line: 50-36 in 26 innings.
Tomorrow at 13.00 will be the semi-finals. Peter Ceulemans meets Roland Forthomme, the second semi is between Frédéric Caudron and Eddy Merckx.
The final will be played at 16.00.
