Frédéric Caudron is one of the contenders for the world's number one position.

HURGHADA - Two Turks, two Belgians, one Italian, one French, one Greek and one Dutch are on the schedule for the final eight players at the Hurghada World Cup. The number one of the world is outplayed, loosing against Murat Naci Coklu in the past round. Frédéric Caudron, Eddy Merckx and Filippos Kasidokostas are chasing for his crown.

Frédéric Caudron had a start that's almost usual in some of his matches: he doesn't like it, but he prefers a bad start and a blistering finish. He lost one set to Vietnamese Quyet Chien Tran and then got his teeth into the match with a high class performance in three other sets, which he played in his usual pace pace: 15-1, 15-8, 15-6 (1.727).

He did not speak about ,,two easy opponents'' when he closed off (Tüzül and Tran), but realized for sure that his opponent in the next round will be a world class player: Marco Zanetti, his teammate at Agipi.

The Italian had an unfortunate and not so good start yesterday, but recovered in his duel with Savas Bulut with three winning sets in  which he demonstrated his fighting spirit. This afternoon Zanetti showed his brillant problem-solving in the match against Sung-Won Choi, whom he beat after a flawless start (15-2) in the next two sets 15-13 and 15-11.

Dick Jaspers also won 3-0 and moved outkicked another Korean, Jae Ho Cho 15-13, 15-14, 15-7. Martin Horn had a promising start (15-3 in 4 innings), but then struggled for form in his match against Eddy Merckx: 15-12, 15-14, 15-9.

The matches for the quarterfinals (18:00 Egyptian time):
Murat Naci Coklu-Jérémy Bury
Lutfi Cenet-Filippos Kasidokostas
Eddy Merckx-Dick Jaspers
Marco Zanetti-Frédéric Caudron.
