SLUISKIL Christian Rudolph after two rounds at the World championship made the best impression of the sixteen players in the first eight groups. The German won his match against Luis Avila from Mexico without any problems and with an average of 2.132. He was the first player to break the barrier of two. Dion Nelin finished the round before on 1750.
Gerhard Kostistansky (Austria) and Piedro Piedrabuena (America) met in an exciting game. They went on to 2-2 in sets, then Kostistansky took te victory in the nerve-racking finale of the party. The averages were 1.594 and 1.540.
Gung Dong Kang, a red-haired Korean, in his first group match was the strongest against Ramon Hamm from Luxembourg (3-1). Julian Morales, the Pan-American champion, defeated Christakis Christoforis from Cyprus 3-0.
