VALENCIA - The Swede Michael Nilsson was not in a great shape, but still Clichy Montmartre had no problems to reach the final stage of the European Cup. The Paris team, playing without Dick Jaspers, won two matches in the group D with three teams. Both matches were won 6-2: Eddy Merckx, Richard Bitalis and Jean Reverchon remained unbeaten.

Eddy Merckx played his best match against Leppens, which he won 2-0 with an average of 1.764. The collision with the organizing team of Gandia was the most important in the group. Sergio Jimenez defeated Michael Nilsson, but Richard Bitalis won 2-1 against Alfonso Legazpi and Jean Reverchon defeated Jose Luis Pascual 2-0.

Gandia and Clichy showed themselves both too strong in their duels with Royal Kortrijk. Only Michael Nilsson spoiled two match points for Clichy against Henk Blauwblomme.
