SLUISKIL – Even a little hustle from the Hague (Jeffrey Jorissen running a twelve against Eddy Leppens) could not worry the Eredivisie’s leading team this sunday. Dallinga-Frans Bevers appears to be head and shoulders above the competition in these starting rounds.

Two 8-0 victories – in Oosterhout on saturday, against Van Wanrooij, at home against Biljartcafé Jorissen on sunday – only strengthened their position. In the absence of general Frédéric Caudron, the colonels shone on saturday: Eddy Leppens started his match with a 10, Glenn Hofman finished with a 10 after just eighteen innings.

Martin Spoormans played a great weekend for his team Capelle-de Terp, which won twice and climbed to third position on the table. On saturday, Spoormans made life miserable for his country’s champion, Roland Forthomme, and on sunday the seasoned campaigner was Raimond Burgman’ s angstgegner: 50-35 in 24 innings.

The Dutch eredivisie looks to be a fight for the consolation prizes this year. Numbers two, three and four (play-off places) are relatively close to each other. Partycentrum Osdorp had a bad start (8-0 loss against Dallinga) but has recovered to its rightful second place. The team from Amsterdam beat Aardexpress (6-2) on saturday, and on sunday the 6th round match against Verbrugge Hyundai was converted into an 8-0.

Dick Jaspers was better then teammate Eddy Merckx in that second match of the weekend (25 v. 40 innings), on saturday the dethroned world champion needed 30 innings, the same as Frans van Kuyk, who impressed with a run of twelve.

Jeffrey Jorissen provided a good ending to his match against Eddy Leppens (Dallinga-Frans Bevers). The billirad room manager from The Hague come from far behind and ran a twelve, but in the end came up short by two points: 50-48 in 25.

Frédéric Caudron, warmly congratulated with his world title before the matches, was put to the test by until 30-30, then ran off to a 50-40 finish in 28, his opponent adding five in the equalizing inning: 50-45. Dutch champion Jean Paul de Bruijn also had a fine weekend with two wins in 21 and 26 innings (to 45)

De Distel, without Gerwin Valentijn, who won the national title on the small table this weekend, kept Team STZ in check with a deserved 4-4, made possible by Jef Philipoom and John Tijssens.

Jef Philipoom inflicted a second loss in a weekend on Roland Forthomme, 50-32 in 19. Tijssens beat Peter Ceulemans by a margin: 50-23 in 26. Barry van Beers and Raymon Groot won a point for STZ with their victories over Demming and Van Aart.

Francis Forton and Jack Wijnen were the prime forces for ‘s Landswelvaren, who beat Aardexpress 6-2.

The top 4 on the table:

1 Dallinga-Frans Bevers 14 points
2 Partycentrum Osdorp 11 points
3 Capelle-de Terp 9 points
4 STZ 8 points.
