Dani Sánchez took the title after thriller against Rubén Legazpi, decided from the penalty spots

LOS NAREJOS - Dani Sanchez was crowned today for the seventeenth time as the Spanish champion three cushion. The tournament was played in Los Narejos (Murcia). The triple world champion bested Armando Moreno in the final match 40-28 in 23. The prolonged champion recorded 1.527 of average.

Rubén Legázpi played the best match in the tournament against Jésus Rico, whom he defeated 40-16 in eighteen innings. Dani Sánchez showed his best against Joaquin Lopes, 40-15 in 19.

The tournament grew to a climax in the semifinal, when Dani Sánchez and Ruben Legazpi, the two star players, faced each other. The match was exciting until the last caroms. The two main contenders finished after a tough final at 40-40, Dani Sánchez won the penalty shootout 3-2. In the other semifinal Armando Moreno was the surprising winner against Ricardo Garcia 40-36 in 36 innings.

Rubén Legázpi was the best winner in the eighth finals against Jésus Jimenez (40-10 in 23). Armando Moreno outplayed Sergio Jimenez in that round 40-26 in 28, Ricardo Garcia bested Xavier Yeste (40-21 in 16) and Dani Sánchez defeated Jaime Sánchez 40-31 in 34.

The two young talents, Juan David Zapata and David Martinez, who have cancelled their participation for the World Cup in Hurghada like Antonio Montes, were already off in an earlier stage of the tournament and played 0.851 and 0.958 average.

José Manuel Gómez made the highest run of the tournament (13). Ruben Legazpi ended up with the best average: 1.633.

Rubén Legazpi played an excellent tournament, showed up with the highest average, but was eliminated from the penalty spots by Dani Sánchez.
