Dani Sánchez, 18 fold champion, is the main favourite again in Madrid

MADRID - At the headquarters of the Spanish billiard federation, the 84th Spanish championship three-cushion has started this Monday. A total of 117 players come to the tables. The pre-rounds are played with 101 players. On Friday, sixteen seeded players enter the tournament. David Martinez, who won in La Coruna last year in a final against Dani Sánchez, is the defending champion.

In the field of players, Sánchez is the most crowned player. The four-time world champion gathered eighteen Spanish titles. Four other players in the field won the title: Ricardo Garcia, Enrique Peñalva and two young players, Javier Palazón and David Martinez.

Dani Sánchez, the main favourite, faces other competitors like Ruben Legazpi, Juan David Zapata, Antonio Montes, Carlos Crespo and José María. Dani Sánchez achieved the record average with 2.247 and a highest run of 23, when the championship was played in 2016 in Paiporta.
