Dani Sánchez was by far the best player in the qualification rounds

MADRID - The Coral Colon team, with Dani Sánchez as best man, has easily advanced for the 29th edition of the Spanish championship for club teams. The multiple Spanish and three times world champion took both the best average (2.400) and the best match average (3.636) and also scored the highest run: 15.

Coral Colon is the reigning Spanish champion with Dani Sánchez, Nikos Polychronopoulos, Jose Maria Mas and Carlos Crespo. The team won this weekend all three group matches with a big margin and team averages against Getafe 1.616, Mataró 1.524 and Barcelona 1.739.

The eight teams who qualified for the final phase, which will be played on 12, 13, 14 and 15 June, are Casino Cartagena, Madrid Escuela, CB Sants, CB Mataró, Delikan B Gandia, Coral Colon, CB Kalima-Rivas and Allicante.

Alcantarila, last week's group winner in the preliminary rounds of the European Cup in Bottrop, missed the final round on one match. Delikia Gandia and CB Sants were the numbers one and two in the group. The last encounter between the two rivals ended 4-4, but CB Sants was the group's second.

Peter Ceulemans starred in the last match with a match in 17 innings. Remarkable was that Eddy Leppens lost all his three games for his team.
Dani Sánchez was the absolute star of the preliminary round with matches against Benito Plaza (40-13 in 11), Jordi Garriga (40-32 in 23) and Xavier Minguell (40-23 in 16), averaging 2.400. Nikos Polychronopoulos played a strong match against Miguel Casademunt 40-15 in fifteen innings.
