Dani Sánchez during the match with Riad Nady: ,,I'm happy that they corrected the world record.''

LUXOR - The world record Dani Sánchez played in the World Cup in Luxor last week, has been corrected to 2.777. The UMB (world federation) announced that in an official declaration today. The correction is applied, because a referee has made a mistake in the 7th inning of the match between the Spanish player and Egyptian Riad Nady. The initial world record was 2.816.

The official version of the UMB: ,,The match of Dani Sánchez against Riad Nadi (the first match of the Spaniard in this World Cup), according to the score sheet, ended in 40-6 in 11. The live streaming, video reply (from Kozoom) made clear that a mistake was made by the referee in the 7th inning.

The announced world record was based on a number of 200 caroms in 71 innings (2.816), but that is incorrect. The live images have shown that the match ended in 40-6 in 12 innings, one inning more than on the score sheet.

For the UMB, the score sheet is considered the sole official match result document, signed by both players and referees. Only in this specific case of a world record situation, the UMB may refer to the live replay video to correct any mistake that is of influence for the accuracy of the world record.

The final conclusion: Dani Sánchez' word record, concerning the 3-cushion World Cup in Luxor 2017, is officially corrected to 200 points in 72 innings, to a general average of 2.777!!

UMB President Farouk Barki was already informed on Sunday, but first consulted the UMB board on Monday to come to an official decision.

The World Cup winner and world champion Dani Sánchez, was happy with the decision: ,, ,,I heard it already after the match from a journalist, that they had made a mistake on the score sheet. Now that the UMB took the conclusion, after they have seen the live video, I fully agree that they corrected the world record. I don't want a world record which is nog right.''
