CALI - The Colombian player Daniel Morales starred with a victory in the second Grand Prix Panamericano this year. The tournament was played in the International Sport Club in Cali. In the final, Daniel Morales edged his last opponent Huberney Cataño 40-35 in 30 innings. The top prize was $ 2500, the total prize money 8.200 dollars.

The stage was completed by two other Colombians, Pedro Gonzalez Jr. and Julian Morales, the losers in the semi-finals. The Colombians dominated the tournament: the only foreigh players in the main draw with 64 were Julio Zegarra, Rodolfo Covarrubias, Luis Aveiga and Javier Teran.

Javier Teran (2.308) and Arley Montoya (2.143) were the best winners in the preliminary stages. Jose Juan Garcia was the first of the favourites who was knocked down, by Wilson Londoño. Robinson Morales lost to Javier Teran 30-19 in 19.

In the quarterfinals, Daniel Morales and Luis Aveiga played a draw in 31 innings, Morales was the best in the shoot-out 3-2. Pedro González defeated Arley Galeano 40-31 in 33. Julian Morales scooped victory against Julio Ayala 40-36 in 38 and Huberney Cataño was slightly better than Alexander Salazar 40-38 in 31 innings.

Daniel Morales secured his place in the final with a narrow win over Pedro Gonzales 40-39 in 28. Huberney Cataño knocked down Julian Morales in the penultimate round 40-28 in 24.

The prize for the best run (10) went to Javier Teran, Luis Aveiga, Robinson Morales and Jose Juan Garcia.
