SLUISKIL For the third time in his career Daniel Sánchez is the world champion three cushion. The 36-year-old Spaniard defeated his Belgian opponent Eddy Leppens in the finals in Sluiskil: 3-2 in sets.

Sánchez was the youngest world champion ever as a 25-year-old player in 1998 in Reze in France. He took his second title in Lugo (Spain) seven years later. The little man from Barcelona, who moved to the south of Spain, in the final looked after a smooth start of Leppens against a backlog of 2-0. The match then tilted in favor of the Spaniard, after the 15-10 and 15-5 for Leppens the Spaniard came back with 15-10 and 15-1 in the next two sets. In the decisive session Sánchez stayed cold-blooded. He won 15-12 and then let his emotions run wild.
The averages for Sánchez was 1.666, for Leppens 1.472.
