MATOSINHOS - The Portuguese team championship prepares for a final with the four most famous players in the tournament. FC Porto, the defending champion and FC Leca meet today in the battle for the final victory. Dani Sánchez, Torbjörn Blomdahl (both FC Porto), Eddy Merckx and Jef Philipoom (FC Leca) guarantee a spectacular final.
The two title favorites remained unbeaten in the run up to the final. Nevertheless, Eddy Merckx suffered a notable loss against David Zapata, the young Spaniard who plays an excellent tournament. He defeated the double world champion from Belgium 40-24 in 18 innings.
Leca FC won that match 5-3, because Jef Philipoom beat the other young guy the team of Alab, David Martinez, 40-33 in 23.
FC Porto and FC Leca gathered the full match points out of four matches, followed by Alabama, which played one match more.
Torbjörn Blomdahl was superb in the fourth round against Manuel Ferreira that he won 40-7 in 15 innings. Dani Sánchez defeated Amandio Marinho 40-11 in 22.
