David Zapata takes second title under 25 in Spain

David Zapata won his second Spanish title under 25 in Madrid

MADRID - The 22-year-old David Zapata won the Spanish championship three cushion under 25 for the second time in a row. The former European junior champion defeated Rubén Fernandez in the finals 40-29 in 28 innings. The tournament was organized by Amigos del Billar Alcobendas in Madrid.

Twelve players competed for the title. The outcome,today (Sunday), was a battle with four in the semi-finals. David Zapata placed for the final by a win against Carlos Anguita (40-33 in 37). David Martinez and Rubén Fernandez played a draw (40-40 in 36), Fernandez won the penalty shootout.

David Zapata from Murcia, who is studying and has a girlfriend (Estela), belongs to the most talented players in the world for several yars. He was third at the World championship Guatemala 2011 after Haeng Jik Kim and Jun Tae Kim and won in the same year his first Spanish title under 21 ahead of David Martinez, Antres Carrion, Abel Garrucho and Antonio Montes.

The next year, Zapata won the European junior title in the final against Omer Karakurt, third and fourth were Jens van Dam and David Martinez. And one year later at the European junior championships, Zapata was second behind Karakurt in Brandenburg.

The twelve players in the final rounds in Madrid were David Zapata, Rubén Fernandez, Sergio Aparicio, David Martinez, Carlos Anguita, Mario Mercades, David Pardo, Antonio Montes, Rafal Cabo, Adriá Garcia, Daniel Pena and Jose Delgado.
