The top three on stage: René Dericks, Jop de Jong and Benny Smits

THE HAGUE - More or less it looked like a flawless hat-trick, realized by René Dericks in the second artistic Grand Prix in the Netherlands. The player who lives in Limburg converted his top form into his third successive victory: first of all the opening of the Grand Prix cycle, then the Jan Brunnekreef Memorial and this weekend also the second Grand Prix in The Hague. And in the final match, Jop de Jong was against his most important opponent.

The young man from Bathmen is strong, made big progress and is ambitious, but again ran into the veteran who is in the form of his life. René Dericks is both mentally and technically strong, can handle the pressure and has the routine as a major weapon.

The two finalists met in a great start (2-2, played on a very high level), remained in balance at the start of the final match (13-13 after two figures). Dericks made his attack in some tough figures (64 and 80). De Jong missed his first being 20-13 down and in the next set 30-13. Dericks took his chance after the mental breakdown of his young opponent to finish the game. The triple winner showed his supremacy once again.

The final commentary of the winner: ,,My start in the preliminaries was not really great, but I presereved my best for the semi-finals and the final... 65% and 78%. That was good enough to win again, but I had to go deep, because Jop played very good. A super strong final for both of us.''

Benny Smits took the third place on stage after a win over Erik Vijverberg.

Sander Jonen, who finished fifth, is closer to a better form after his poor tournament in the Jan Brunnekreef Memorial. ,,I'm coming back'', he said. ,,I was a little unhappy, otherwise I could have been in the semi-finals. I just miss some power to score in some tough figures.''
