Deurne and Zanzibar raise the advantage on their rivals

Wesley de Jaeger played a very clever and superior match against Erik Hendrikx

The stars of the Belgian championship in Blankenberge one day after the final were fit enough to compete in the competition for teams in Belgium. Eddy Merckx led his team BC Deurne to a 6-2 victory over Mister 100 Lier. He defeated Peter Ceulemans 50-34 in 29 innings. Frédéric Caudron, the other finalist, won his match against Steven van Acker with the highest average of the day: 50-10 in 21 innings. Caudron finished with an average of 2.380, Van Acker with 0.476.

KBC Zanzibar and BC Deurne, the two leaders, raised their advantage with one point, because BC Geox wasted one point against BC Biljart Express. Zanzibar defeated Kon. Kortrijkse 6-2 and now has, like BC Deurne, 19 points in twelve matches.

BC Deurne thanked the victory over Mister 100 not only to Eddy Merckx, Jef Philipoom also played a very good match against Kurt Ceulemans, who he beat 50-25 in 26 innings.

For the Zanzibar team Dave Christiani was the best man with 1.428 average. Roland Forthomme on table 1 defeated Ronny Brants, one of the stars in the Belgian championship, 50-41 in 42 innings.

BC De Ploeg had his best players in Martin Horn and Wesley de Jaeger. The German beat Martin Spoormans 50-28 in 24, De Jaeger was far too strong for Erik Hendrickx, who had a complete offday (42-9 in 20).

Dion Nelin finished the evening for BC Geox with a win over Frans van Kuik, but Christian Rudolph and Leon Smolders wasted four points for BC Geox against Gerwin Valentijn and Guy van Litsenborg. Geert Meylemans rescued one point for Geox in his match with Johan Claessen.
