Dick Jaspers graps his 14th Masters title

NIJVERDAL - The domination of Dick Jaspers in the Dutch Masters continues year after year. In the final against Raimond Burgman, today in the ZiNiN theatre in Nijverdal, the champioen grapped his 14th title in eighteen years. The final score was 3-0. Jaspers had a laborious start (15-14 in 16), but then striked in two rapid sets (15-6 in 4, 15-1 in 3).

Jaspers remained unbeating during the whole tournament, without losing any set. With Raimond Burgman, the second Dutch player on the world ranking, he played four finals in the past. three of them were won by Jaspers. This time it took only one hour and 35 minutes to win the final game. In the last set Jaspers seemed to be on his way to the maximal fifteen, but on thirteen he missed by a kiss.

The Masters 2010 was played for the 22nd time, this year with 32 players, next year it will be reduced to the sixteen best of the Netherlands.

Two former champions reached the semi finals on saturday. Jaspers came up te the final by beating Ad Broeders (15-11, 15-6, 15-12), Burgman by beating Jean van Erp (15-9, 14-15, 15-14, 15-9).

The best match in the tournament was played by Jean Paul de Bruijn. He scored 45 points in 18 innings. The 20 year old Glenn Hofman made the highest run of 17.
