The world's top eight during the opening ceremony in Ho Chi Minh

HO CHI MINH - The Dutchman Dick Jaspers has already left the World Cup in Ho Chi Minh after one match. In his opening game of the tournament, the world's number one lost to Korean Dong-Koong Kang. Jaspers couldn't show his high class level and went out 40 to 31 in 23 innings. The Dutchman now also can lose his number one position. When Dani Sánchez wins his first match against of Quyet Chien Tran, the Spaniard is the new leader in the standings.

The first round in the main tournament was dominated by the Korean Sung-Won Choi with an opening run of 19. He then defeated Sameh Sidhom 40-14 in 13. Marco Zanetti was also one of the stars in the first session, he defeated Hyung Kon Kim: 40-30.

The Korean bump between two of the big talents, Haeng-Jik Kim and Myung Woo Cho, ended in a victory for 18-year-old Cho: 40-28 in 22.
