Dick Jaspers had a glittering start for his country.

VIERSEN - The run of thirteen, at the start of his first match, was flawless. Dick Jaspers was by far the best man of the afternoon: he won his first set against Rene Hendriksen from Swiss in three innings and started in the second with a run of seven. Jaspers at least played his thirty caroms in only eight runnings (3,750 average), another top player, Torbjörn Blomdahl, shined for his country with an average of 2.500.

The home crowd was treated to a wonderful ending as well in the encounter between Germany and Sweden B. Stefan Galla and Peter Lohmander fought for the win in the deciding set. The German won because he sprinted with a run of three at 13-12 to the finish.

Netherlands A took his first victory, not only by the win of Jaspers, also Raimond Burgman took a 2-0 victory against Torsten Danielsson, who even didn't play a half average. Dick Jaspers seemed on the way to an unbelievable match, after his start with thirteen in the first set and the start with seven in the second set. Then the rhythm faltered for a while, but after three misses Jaspers finished with eight in the fifth inning.

The Swedish team made a half-misstep. Blomdahl won unchallenged against Carloman Ortiz (15-3, 15-11), but Nalle Olsen wasted the deciding set against Colombian champion Julian Morales. It must be said: Olsson certainly didn't seem to be a very strong team mate for Blomdahl, like Michael Nilsson was in the past.

Stefan Galla took the maximum gain for Germany after an easy victory of Martin Horn against David Pennör from Sweden, who had no chance in two sets. Horn averaged 2.000.

The Spanish team took a comfortable win too in the match against Montenegro. Dani Sánchez defeated Danilo Brajovic 15-9 and 15-2 and averaged 1.875, Javier Palazón had a bit more resistance in his performance against Vuk Brajovic: 15-10 and 15-12.
