COPENHAGEN - The Danish championship for teams yesterday in Copenhagen came to an end with an excellent match between Dion Nelin and Brian Knudsen. BK Grøndal, the reigning champion, after two days and three wins in the play-offs could lift the trophy again. Nelin was the best player of the tournament with a highest match average of 2.083, Knudsen made with thirteen the highest run. The winning team of BK Grøndal ended up with a team average of 1.340 and Danny Sörensen and Dion Nelin remained unbeaten in their three matches.

The top match between Nelin and Knudsen was exciting till the last innings. Knudsen took an early lead by 20-8 in three innings, making a run of thirteen, but Nelin fought back with runs of 9, 7 and another 7. When he closed the match in 24 innings, Knudsen had to make four points in the equalizer. He missed his second after the breakshot.

BK Grøndal played on Sunday against Albertslund BK, which was one point behind, in his strongest composition. Jacob Haack Sörensen had played on Saturday for the cup in the Netherlands (Dekker Keukens), on Sunday morning he was flown to Copenhagen for the last match of the playoffs.

The reigning champions remained unbeaten in that match, because Zola Hansen played a draw against Allan Schröder, Sörensen defeated Christensen and Carlsen won his match against Anderson. The tactical move by the team leader of BK Grøndal on the last day was special. Tonny Carlsen played the match in fourth position. His opponent Anderson took only seventeen points in 37 innings.

The final match was played in a full house. BK Grøndal now can focus on the European Cup, in which tournament the team last year in Schiltigheim took the third place.

In the final ranking of the championship the team of BK Grøndal collected six match points, Albertslund BK is second with one win and one tie, the third BK Randers with the same match points, Vejle BK is the number four.
