Dion Nelin returns to Danish championship

COPENHAGEN - The 2018 Danish Championship in 3-cushion has started this Friday 12th of January, the finals are on Sunday 14th of January. The championship is played in the Copenhagen suburb, Brønshøj. BK Grøndal, the wellknown Danish topclub in 3-cushion, is hosting this years tournament together with the Danish Billiard Federation.

Sixteen players from the Danish elite are qualified to the tournament. They show up in four groups of four players. Among them are: Dion Nelin, Tonny Carlsen, Brian Knudsen, Lars Dunch, Allan Schrøder (reigning champion), Thomas Andersen (Nordic champion) and Martin Olesen (Runner up Nordic championship).

Brian Zola Hansen and Jacob Haack-Sørensen are the only Danish topguns missing. Dion Nelin is participating at the championship for the first time in several years.

The final match will be played on Sunday 14th of January at 13.00 local time.

The 16 players are seeded in to 4 groups of 4. The play against each orther in the group phase. The first two in each group advance for the KO phase.
During the tournament all matches are played to 50 points. 40 seconds shotclock and two time outs. In the KO phase is a shoot out if the match ends in a draw.

Mr. Tage Lauridsen, chairman of BK Grøndal, is the tournament director. Mr. Flemming Busk Knudsen, president of the Danish Billiard Federation, is in charge of ceremonies.

There is a live streaming transmission all days. The Danish Billiard Federation will make extended coverage this Saturday and Sunday, with commentators.
