Dion Nelin finished a 40 carom match in 15 innings

PAIPORTA - The Dane Dion Nelin was one of the star players on the first day of the semifinals in the Spanish championship for teams. In his match against Enrique Penalva, Nelin won 40-9 in 15 innings. Glenn Hoffman and Javier Palazón (40-23 against Jérémy Bury) shone in this group with matches in 17 innings. Paiporta (Palazón, Nelin) leads the group with four points, second is Castalla with 2.

Asoc. Palma, Kalima Rivas and Alcantarilla are the three frontrunners in the other groups after two of three rounds. Today, the last rounds will be played.

Group A:

Palma leads with three match points followed by Madrid nationa, and Valencia. Palma played a 4-4 draw against Valencia, partly thanks to Martin Horn, who defeated Michael Nilsson 40-27 in 18 innings. Carlos Crespo faced Dave Christiani and won 40-33 in 46. Michael Nilsson bested Roland Forthomme 40-28 in 29.

Group B:

Paiporta has advanced almost certainly with four match points. Castalla, with Glenn Hoffman, makes a bit for second place to place fort he final round. Glenn Hofmann defeated Jose Glez 40-9 in 17 innings.

Group C:

Kalima Rivas leads in own house with 4 points ahead of Casino Cartagena and Danyells with 2. Alberto Sintas (Cartagena) won in 23 innings. Kalima Rivas defeated Cartagena 6-2, in the contest, Rubén Legazpi triumphed against David Martinez 40-31 in 22.

Group D:

Alcantarilla has already advanced for the final round with four match points. Peter Ceulemans was the best man in this group with a win over Xavier Yeste: 40-22 in 16. Ricardo Garcia defeated Eddy Leppens 40-20 in 22, the Belgian played a draw in his first match in 34 innings.
