Dong Koong Kang during his first match

SEOUL - The news travelled fast amongst those involved with the LGU+ Cup in Seoul. Korean player Dong Koong Kang, one of the best players on the first day with a victory over Jae Ho Cho, was rushed to the hospital with severe pains in his stomach. The first diagnosis was food poisoning, but later an inflammation of the pancreas was also considered.

William Oh, who accompanied the player to the hospital, reported: ,,Mr. Kang was brought to the intensive care, where the doctor first administered pain medication. A final diagnosis will be made as soon as possible. At this point, it is impossible to say if he will be able to play tomorrow (Wednesday). He may have to stay in the hospital overnight.''

William Oh continued: ,,We expect the results of the examination in a few hours. Then we will know if he can stay in the tournament.''

Two hours later, around 01.00 at night in Korea, William Oh said: ,,The doctor can now only ease the pain with medication. Dong Koong needs to be further examined, with a CT- scan. There might be an internal problem. We go back to the hotel now. The scan can only be performed Monday. As for tomorrow's games, Kang can decide for himself, and he really wants to play.''

Dong Koong Kang played the best match of the first day, when he beat Jae Ho Cho (who ran a 14) 35-28 in 12 innings. If he stays in the tournament, he will face Hyung Bum Hwang and Hyun Min Seo.
