MUNICH/Elversberg - The BC Elversberg team climbed to the top position in the double round for the bundesliga, which is shared with BC Munich: both teams gathered 20 points out of 13. BCC Witten, the team led by Eddy Leppens, can catch up with the two leaders, because Witten is one match behind. Frédéric Caudron and Lütfi Cenet were the grand masters in this double weekend. The Belgian defeated his rival Eddy Merckx on Saturday 40-29 in 17 innings. The day after, Thorsten Frings was beaten 40-25 in 12 innings.

BC Elversberg first beat Velbert 6-2, among others by Jef Philipoom's win over Henk Habraken, and Sunday, the leader defeated Krefeld 8-0. Kaus Bösel won in 23 innings, Jef Philipoom bested Wesley de Jaeger 40-31 in 27.

BC Munich made one half misstep on Saturday in the away match against Bottroper BA. Cenet and Schirmbrand won (40-37 in 29 against Rudolph, 40-19 in 22 vs Francis Forton). The loss of Papakonstantinou against Jäschke (40-36 in 25) and Christodoulidis against Broux (40-38 in 38) resulted in 4-4.

BCC Witten restrained Magdeburg in a home match 6-2. Dick Jaspers was missing, because he played a Grand Prix in the Netherlands. Dion Nelin advanced to the leading position and defeated Leppens 40-16 in 19 innings. Savas Bulut, Ronny Lindemann and Edgar Bettzieche were successful for Witten by victories over Schönhoff, Zollner and Novak.

Bergisch Gladbach remains in the midfield by a gain over Krefeld (6-2) and losing to Velberg (2-6). Nikos Polychronopoulos won in 26 innings vs Henk Habraken, but lost in 21 innings agaist Thorsten Frings (40-37).
