CALI - The two Dutch billiard players at the World Games in Cali are facing each other in the quarterfinals tomorrow. Dick Jaspers defeated in his first match Javier Teran from Ecuador with a big margin. Glenn Hoffman had a more or less a walkover against the Japanese O Takeshima.

Dick Jaspers prepared the way for his big victory (40-17 in twenty innings) when he scored two elevens in the 7th and 8th inning. With those runs he sprinted from 9 on the scoresheet to 31, while his opponent remained under ten.

The match was lacking any tension: Jaspers finished after two last innings with runs of five and two. Teran, who didn’t feel the table at all, brought his score to 17 with six points in his last two innings.

Glenn Hoffman, who’s having a great time in the entourage of the Games, couldn’t flaunt with a great start, but gradually ran away from the ever cheerful Japanese O Takeshima. The young Dutchman dominated the whole match, with many defensive positions on the table and virtually no high runs.

Hofman won the duel 40-16 in 38 innings.
