Dutch classic titles for Jong and Van Etten

AMSTERDAM - The two most laureled Dutch youth players, Ferry Jong and Sam van Etten, have taken the national titles in free game and balk line 47/2 on the match table. Ferry Jong remained unbeaten in the balk line games on Saturday, Sam van Etten won all his matches in the free game.

The two tournaments were played over two days in Biljartcentrum Sloterdijk in Amsterdam, where four players met in both game tyes. Ferry Jong defeated his three opponents, Sam van Etten did the same one day later.

Three players from Horna in Hoorn and Jim van der Zalm as the only outsider made it an attractive two-days battle. Sam van Etten gave a demonstration in the free game: he won the first match against Jordy Jong in one inning, (250-20), then defeated Jim van der Zalm 250-37 in four, and finally bested Ferry Jong in the final game in one inning: 250-31.

Ferry Jong finished second with four match points ahead of Jim van der Zalm and Jordy Jong. Ferry Jong also scored a maximum run of 250 in his match against his brother Jordy, whom he beat in the fourth inning. Jim van der Zalm sparkled with a run of 241.
