KAATSHEUVEL - The countdown has started: in a few days the Dutch three cushion top will meet at the BiljarPoint Masters in Kaatsheuvel, the official Dutch championship. Jean Paul de Bruijn is the reigning champion, Dick Jaspers, Raimond Burgman, Barry van Beers, Jean van Erp, Dave Christiani and Glenn Hofman are considered as the main challengers.

The venue is De Werft, Kaatsheuvel, where a new organization will try to give the tournament give a new impetus and Raymond Ceulemans is the main guest of honor. The presentation and the entourage should be innovative and refreshing, the organizers will do everything to attract many spectators to come to the Masters.

Who will be Jean Paul de Bruijn's successor? That is the question before the start. The 'Zeeuw' won the Dutch championship one cushion this weekend in a great style. He dominated the entire field in the discipline he plays on world class level.

The titleholder, who won last year's final against Dave Christiani, demonstrates his three cushion form weekly in the league games, both in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Dick Jaspers is looking for revenge for the lost title, which he already took fifteen times since 1990. The winner of three Grand Prix tournaments last year had an excellent warming up this week with his team in Belgium: a victory with a run of eighteen!

He is the holder of the record average at the Masters: 2.395 in 2009 in Nijverdal, but Jaspers realizes that the competition has grown. Jean Paul de Bruijn, Raimond Burgman, Dave Christiani, Barry van Beers and Glenn Hoffman are able to play world class matches and threaten the Dutchman with the most impressive palmares.

The tournament starts on Thursday, January 16th with an absolute cracker: Dick Jaspers against Dave Christiani. The two players are divided into the strongest group of the tournament with Jean van Erp and Bert van Manen.
Therese Klompenhouwer is the only lady who advanced for the finals. She's in a group with Jean Paul de Bruijn, Raimond Burgman and Martien van der Spoel.

The group formats are:
Group A: Dick Jaspers, Jean van Erp, Bert van Manen, Dave Christiani
Group B: Barry van Beers, Harry van de Ven, Erwin Kivits, Adrie Demming
Group C: Raimond Burgman, Jean Paul de Bruijn, Martien van der Spoel, Therese Klompenhouwer
Group D: Glenn Hoffman, Frans van Schaik, Jeffrey Jorissen, Huub Wilkowski.

The preliminary rounds will be played on Thursday and Friday. The quarter finals are on Saturday, January 18th (from 11.00). The semi-finals are Saturday at 19.00. The final is Sunday at 13.00.

Billiards legend Raymond Ceulemans is guest of honor at the Masters. He will give a demonstration before the semifinals.
All games will be broadcast live on kozoom.com
