BRANDENBURG - The Dutch A team, title holder at the European championship three cushion for nation teams with Dick Jaspers and Raimond Burgman, has reached the semi-final by beating the B team of the Netherlands: 40-26 in 25 innings. Tomorrow, Friday, the Netherlands meet in the semi-finals Denmark with Lars Dunch and Allan Schöder.
The other semi-final is between Greece and Turkey A. The German home team, the Belgians with Frédéric Caudron and Steven van Acker, France and the Turkish B team with Semih Sayginer were eliminated in the quarterfinals.
The European champion Netherlands was never in trouble in the derby against Orange B with Jean van Erp and Dave Christiani. The match went soon to 13-2, 20-10 after nine innings and was closed smoothly byJaspers and Burgman.
Greece, that came into the quarterfinals as the best runner-up, surprised with a victory over Belgium (40-31 in 22). The French came back after being far behind against Denmark, but stumbled just before the finish: 40-37 in 32. Turkey A bested the Turkish B team with a big margin, 40-14 in 17, the best match in the quarter-finals.
