Eddy Merckx: a win against Jens Eggers, a draw with his team.

SCHILTIGHEIM - What Agipi and Andernos did in the first round in Group A, playing a 4-4 draw, did Clichy Montmartre and Gruner Tisch in Group B. Jean Reverchon won his match for Clichy  before the break, Richard Bitalis lost. In the second part Eddy Merckx defeated Jens Eggers, Markus Galla won his match against Eddy Leppens.

Maybe the Futbol Club de Porto, with Dick Jaspers and Dani Sánchez, has seen the result with a big smile. The Portuguese meet both teams in this group and one victory is enough to qualify for the semi finals.

Clichy and Gruner Tisch played anything but a high class match. Agipi and Andernos finished their match with team averages of 1.689 and 1.400 respectively. Clichy started with 1.156, Gruner Toisch with 1.057.

Eddy Merckx won against Jens Eggers by a margin of seven caroms. The Belgian needed 28 innings for his 40 points, he was the best of the session.

Markus Galla defeated Eddy Leppens 40-38 in 37 innings. The French team without any doubt hoped for a better start in their first match, but Bitalis and Leppens played far below their abilities. Leppens is not in his best period of his good season: last weekend he lost his two matches in the Dutch play-offs against Dion Nelin. Bitalis had to many ups and downs in those playoffs, that was one of the reasons his team (TOVV) disappointed.
