HOOGEVEEN - The European billards federation, CEB, has announced the first Euro Grand Prix one cushion and assigned to HBC in Hoogeveen (the Netherlands). The tournament will be played from 21 to 23 February 2014 in Biljartcentrum L' Acquit in Hoogeveen.
Frédéric Caudron, Jean Paul de Bruijn and Raymund Swertz received a wildcard.

The European federation organizes the European championship in all disciplines in Brandenburg every two years. In the intervening years, a Grand Prix will be organized in different disciplines. The application of HBC in order to organize the first Grand Prix cushion was honored.

HBC as the organizer may distribute three wildcards and has managed to catch up three world class players to Hoogeveen: first of all the best all round player in the world, Frédéric Caudron. The Belgian is an absolute world class player in three cushion and took the European title in one cushion in Brandenburg this year.

Jean-Paul de Bruijn and Raymund Swertz are well known Dutch players. De Bruijn was world champion one cushion in 2007 and multiple European and Dutch champion. He is certainly good for 15.00 average. He is also this season’s Dutch champion three cushion.

Raymund Swertz is one of the greatest talents in the classic disciplines in and outside the Netherlands. He showed it in Brandenburg by winning both the European championships balk-line 47/2 and 71/2.

Three weeks ago he took the Dutch title in free game, with 254.44 average. In eleven innings Swertz scored 2800 caroms, he finished five 400 carom matches in one inning.
