First clash between Europe's best and Asian's best in Ceulemans Continental Cup in Bordeaux

BORDEAUX - The two major strongholds in three-cushion are Europe and Asia.  They face each other in the first Ceulemans Continental Cup from December 14th through the 16th. The three day clash, in Eysines near Bordeaux, follows the example of the Ryder Cup in golf between the United States and Europe and the Mosconi Cup in pool billiards, played since 1994 between America and Europe. Eight players from the two continents are invited for the Ceulemans Cup based on the 2017 ranking. The total prize amount is 160,000 dollars, the organization is in the hands of Kozoom International and the UMB.

The playing location, the Salle du Vigean, is in Eysines in a suburb of Bordeaux. The match is played on one match table, a Gabriels Rafale, to a total of 600 caroms, with two players from each team in the arena in different sessions. The schedule, in which the matches are determined in advance, encompasses 24 sessions of 25 points. For example: in the opening session, Frédéric Caudron (Europe) faces Dong-Koong Kang (Asia). If one player has scored 25 points, Eddy Merckx (Europe) and Minh Cam Ma take over the match up to 50 points. The end of the match is when one team has reached 600 caroms. The player of the leading team can not score more than 25 points, the player of the team which is behind can make more than 25 points. Each of the sixteen players comes in one time per day action, all players are classified for three matches over the entire tournament.

The winners at the end of the meeting receive 15,000 per player, the losers 5,000.
