FC Porto powers to 8-0 win in the final match

MATOSINHOS - The unbeatable team of FC Porto toyed again with all its opponents in the Portuguese team championship. The best team won the 'final six' this weekend with a generous margin. The only serious competitor, Leca FC, was defeated 8-0. Dani Sánchez and Eddy Merckx, two of the absolute stars of the tournament, gave the title race a fantastic climax. The Spanish champion won the match between the two front men 40-29 in 13 innings. Torbjörn Blomdahl dealt in the success and the maximum score in the final beating Jef Philipoom 40-23 in 17.

The numbers three and four of the champions team completed the magnificent uphill race of the team. Rui Costa defeated Pedro Martins 40-22 in 27, Joao Ferreira beat Vitor Fernandes 40-20 in 21. The final result was that FC Porto scored 160 caroms in the final and FC Leca 94.

FC Porto won the tournament with an unbeaten string of match points and losing only two matches. The champions took an outstanding team average: 1.500. FC Leca was second with four wins, one loss, averaging 1.145 ahead of ALAB with the two young Spaniards David Zapata and David Martinez with three wins and 1.057 average.

The organizing club of Lexous said it was the twentieth league title for FC Porto.
