Fernando Requena is the successor of Jean-Claude Dupont

MADRID – The Spaniard Fernando Requena, vice-president of the UMB (world federation of billiards) has announced on the UMB website that he is the successor of Jean-Claude Dupont. The Belgian retired on the CEB congres in Brandenburg as UMB president for health reasons last week. Dupont was chosen for a new 4 year period at the UMB congres in Sluiskil last year. Fernando Requena is from Valencia, 59 years of age and wasthe  Spanish federation president for fourteen years, from 1998 until 2012.

Fernando Requena wrote on the UMB site:

,,I address this message to you all, specially to players, officials, referees, volunteers  and billiards friends, to inform you that due to the recent resignation of our President, Mr. Jean-Claude Dupont, and in accordance with the UMB Statutes, it is my duty to take over the UMB Presidency. I herewith express my gratitude, respect and admiration to Jean-Claude Dupont for the work and achievements realized during his Presidency.’’

,,I accept this new responsibility with the experience obtained during many years in all organizational levels of our sport and with the confidence to be able to work intensively to bring our billiards sport to the highest possible level, developing the objectives  by the UMB  Committee. The Union Mondiale de Billard will  maintain all regular operations and daily tasks. I am very grateful, by forehand, to the collaboration and assistance that I am sure to receive to accomplish this mission.’’
