Filipos Kasidokostas celebrates his win to Dick Jaspers after a finishing run of 21.

SCHILTIGHEIM - Filipos Kasidokostas's hand trembled with emotion, when Dick Jaspers congratulated him with his magnificent match. ,,I felt like I was down, I was so nervous, but suddenly I got my feelings back'', the Greek stammered after he had finished his battle with the former, double Agipi winner with a final run of 21!

He had done it before, finishing so furious, in the previous round against Roland Forthomme and Dion Nelin. It looks like his speciality, fighting back from a big gap and finish with large runs. ,,What the reason is, that I can not start like that, I don't know, but I think it are my nerves which are a great handicap in important matches. Before this match against Dick Jaspers I was nervous three weeks ago. My hand was shaking so much that I almost couldn't stroke. I don't have it only in the match, also during my training.''

It is surprising that the Greek with that trembling hand can play such exciting matches. Frédéric Caudron, who had seen the match in the stands, analyzed afterwards: ,He may have a shaking hand, but the stroke is good and tight.'' Jérémy Bury: ,,Actually we have seen two matches in one. Two players who stucked in the first half and who finished wonderful in the second part.''

Indeed Kasidokostas and Jaspers had a very difficult start, although the Dutchman took a small lead in the third inning with an early run of seven and later on led 17-7 in six innings. Until the 24th innig, the match was completely balanced. Two short breaks, because of the broadcasting, broke the match open. Dick Jaspers went to the table in his 24th inning and lifted the score to 39-29 with a run of nine. But Kasidokostas responded amazingly. Tthe first big applause was for ten caroms, then for fifteen points, even for twenty and then, for his very last the public cheered loudly for the Greek.

He made his last in a whirl of euphoria and let a liberating 'yes' role from his lips. ,,Yes, if I still had thirty points to make, maybe I had made them'', he laughed afterwards. His highest run so far was seventeen or eighteen been. ,,I do not know anymore.'' In training Kasidokostas ever made a run of 26.

The two-times Agipi champion can return for a loosers match tomorrow. Dick Jaspers lost a match in the Agipi arena after having been unbeaten for two years. He couldn't blame himself so much, actually, because he met a brilliant young Greek at the billiard with un unbelievable concentration and fighting spirit.
